Starting Sunday, three good friends and I will be doing Julia Cameron's 12 week The Artist's Way program, designed to break down creative blocks and put us all in touch with our respective muses/higher beings of creativity. My Mom did this program back in 1995 and still recalls it fondly, so I've got her copy and I'm readying to begin.
I had a whirlwind 2015 as a writer -- namely, I started writing for real and got a few pieces published, including my first novel. Dang. Going into 2016, I've made incredibly achievable crative goals, but I want to make sure I'm not going to burn out or hit a wall - hence, The Artist's Way.
The three friends I'm teaming up with are a musician, an actor/filmmaker, and an artist/designer. We're all different, but have tons in common. I think it'll be challenging, and awesome, and epic, and hard, and frustrating, and at the end of the 12 weeks we'll all come out having learned things about our respective arts. And that's the whole point.
So to prepare, I'm spending a few days clearing my writing space. Because my desk is a hot mess.
I'll update as we go. Who doesn't love a challenge?
